Apostle George Johnson was born and raised in West Texas and began ministry at the age of 12 years old playing the organ in his local church. At the age of 14, he began preaching the gospel and was put in charge of the youth ministry at Jerusalem C.O.G.I.C in Amarillo Texas; from there at the age of 16 he was promoted to Amarillo/Canyon District Youth President.
Apostle Johnson was ordained in 1984 as an elder in the Church of God in Christ and appointed Pastor of the Refreshing Springs Church in Denver Colorado where he served as the Senior Pastor for 6 years.
In the year of 1999, the Lord lead Apostle Johnson to start the independent work of Temple of Anointing and after serving by himself, in 2001, the Lord placed a burden on Apostle Johnson’s heart to try and help those small ministries that have no covering and no guidance. So, he started the United Pentecostal Assemblies, a regional fellowship based in the Rocky Mountain region. Apostle Johnson served as the Chief Apostle to this fellowship of churches for three years, until the Lord lead him to combine with Grace Ministries International of Lubbock Texas under the leadership of Bishop Robert Mackenzie. Apostle Johnson was appointed a Prelate in charge of the rocky mountain area as well as Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Arkansas and Tennessee.
Through 2005 Apostle Johnson struggled with a fellowship that had various issues and after much prayer the Lord lead Apostle Johnson to resign his position with GMIF to seek guidance on what to do and were to go.
In February of 2006 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Apostle Johnson along with 15 other Churches and Ministries started RCFOCJ, Inc. It is Apostle Johnson vision to be a voice of help for those churches and Ministries without direction and in need of help. This vision is the vision that RCF will carry on with the help of the Lord.
In 2014, the Lord lead Apostle Johnson and First Lady Johnson to start New Direction Christian Center were they currently serve as Senior Pastor’s.
On a personal note Apostle Johnson is married to the former Jennifer Harris and the couple are proud parents of 11 children:
Latoshi, Derrick, Darrell, Micah, Kenya, Cuneasha, Rodger, Samone, Gabrielle, Tashawn and Ashanti. He is also the very proud grandfather of over 20 Grandchildren.
Apostle Johnson celebrates 30 years of pastoral leadership this year as well as 40 years in Ministry.
As the Sr. Pastor of New Direction Praise and Worship Center, I am tasked with shepherding the flock that God has entrusted to me. Here members and vistors can get to know me and truly see the heart that God has given me.
